Ⅰ.Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims:
1)Students can understand the words: bamboo, its.
2)Students can listen, speak, read and recognize the sentence pattern:
What is the …doing?  It’s …
What are the … doing?  They’re …
Ability aims:
Students can use the present continuous tense to communicate with each other.
Emoton aims:
Students can develop their interests in learning English through various activities.
Ⅱ. Key points and difficult points:
Students can understand the structure and usage of the present continuous tense. They can make a dialogue by themselves.
Ⅲ. Teaching methods:
Situational teaching approach, listening and speaking teaching approach and cooperative approach.
Ⅳ. Teaching procedures:
Step1  Lead-in
1)  Enjoy a song “animals, animals are everywhere”
2)  Enjoy a story“Where is my Mom?”
Step 2 Presentation
1)  Listen to the dialogue and answer the questions:
a.  What are the pandas doing?
b.  What do they like?
2)  Listen to the dialogue for the second time and answer the questions:
a.  What’s the elephant doing?
b.  What is the little monkey doing?
3)  Students try to find the common rules of the following sentences:
The pandas are eating lunch.
The elephant is drinking water.
The little monkey is playing with its mother.
Then, students learn a micro-course about the present continuous tense.
Step 3 Practice
1)  Read after the tape
2)  Game: Look and say.
Students look at the animals on the picture and describe their actions  in English. Students are devided into 4 groups. The group who can speak the most and correct sentences are the winners.
3)  Role-play the story“Where is my Mum”.
Step 4: Production
Students work in pairs and make a dialogue.
A: What is the ___­___ doing?
B: It’s ________.
A:What are the ________s doing?
B:They are________.
Step 5: Homework
1)  Listen to the tape and repeat.
